Fair Work Amendment 2017

'Protecting Vulnerable Workers'

The FCA has been working extensively behind the scenes to ensure that the franchise sector's interests are strongly and clearly communicated to the Government and responsible Minister.

We continue to sit at the table as the Government seeks to implement its election commitment to 'better protect vulnerable workers'. However, significant concerns remain with the proposal. Although we value that the Government has consulted us on the proposed reform, we believe that more changes are required to ensure that the legislation supports franchising.

Amendments have been made to the proposed Bill in response to the FCA submissions and advocacy and we will maintain engagement with the Government, Coalition Members and Senators to seek further improvements to the legislation.

Your assistance is vital and we ask that you voice your concerns.

Here's Why

  • Your insights, experiences and credible case-studies should be shared with the FCA so we can better represent your needs
  • Locally engaging with your elected Representatives and being even better prepared to contribute to or appear before a parliamentary committee inquiry, would also be helpful.

This will help to better inform political and opinion leaders, policy makers, key bureaucrats and the media about our concerns, the case for addressing the shortcomings in legislation and why these are compelling.
