Payroll: Common Issues and Staying Compliant

Small businesses and Franchise systems in particular have been in the spotlight recently for all the wrong reasons.  Fair Work is increasing their focus on franchise operations, it's all over the news and it will continue in 2017, make sure your business isn't added to the list.

Join us as we take a look at common payroll issues affecting franchised and non-franchised businesses such as understanding awards, pay rates, updates, and Fair Work Australia's stance regarding non-compliance. 

This session will be presented by Andrew Andrews, Chief Executive Officer, Ezypayroll & Damien Gooden, Chief Executive Officer, HR Central.

Attend this session and learn how to:

  • Understand which areas of an award relate to payroll
  • Learn about real-life mistakes that are often made by business owners
  • Know where to go to get up-to-date payroll advice
  • Understand the resources available to get help
  • What to do if you have made a mistake

About the Guest Speakers:

Andrew Andrews, Chief Executive Officer, Ezypayroll

Andrew Andrews studied Computer Science at University of Adelaide. Commenced as a graduate programmer at Department of Finance in Canberra in 1983. He has a 27 year career as a IT Management Consultant providing strategic and project management services to Government, Corporate and Small to Medium sized enterprises across Australia and Internationally. Andrew commenced Ezypayroll as a managed payroll services in 2003, now with many clients across A&NZ.

Andrew was also elected to FCA SA Chapter 2008-2010, was volunteer president of Youth Radio station Fresh927 2005-2011 and is a current member of the Board of Hellenic Studies Foundation.  Andrew is passionate about assisting businesses in realising the benefits of using the Cloud. Damien Gooden, Chief Executive Officer, HR Central

Damien is the CEO of HR Central and as such is responsible for the management and operation of HR Central. Damien's experience is in management and technology leveraging his software development background.

Damien's previous role was as COO of Third Screen Media Pty Ltd. It was whilst at Third Screen that Damien commenced the build of an online tool that could help Third Screen manage its HR requirements. Whilst seeking to identify third party products on the market, Damien soon identified that there was no effective offering and commenced to scope the opportunity. Damien transitioned from Third Screen Media Pty Ltd to a full-time role with HR Central, in anticipation of the launch of HR Central.

Damien holds a Bachelor of Information Technology and Systems (Application Development) from Monash University and is a member of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Computer Society.
