VIC Breakfast with the Executive Chairman

The FCA invites you to attend our next breakfast where you will have the opportunity to meet the new FCA Executive Chairman, Bruce Billson.

Bruce will update attendees on the political landscape and answer any questions you may have around;

  • The Australian Government's policy objectives and what these mean for franchisors and the Australian franchising sector,
  • Workplace Relations including penalty rates and joint employment manoeuvres, and
  • Any other questions that you may have.

Bruce will then be joined by successful franchisors to discuss how these initiatives will impact the franchising sector:

Bruce Billson, Executive Chairman, Franchise Council of Australia

Bruce Billson has been the Member for Dunkley since 1996 having been elected seven times. He has announced that he will not be contesting the next election. He has held numerous portfolios in government and opposition, including most recently as Minister for Small Business from September 2013 to September 2015.

He was the Shadow Cabinet Minister for Small Business, Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs from December 2009 to September 2013. Bruce's Shadow Ministerial roles between 2007 and 2009 included Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, and Sustainable Development and Cities. He was the Minister for Veterans Affairs and Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence from 2006 to 2007 in the Howard Government.

Bruce was appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Franchise Council of Australia in March 2016.

Chris Caldwell, Chief Executive Officer, Lenard's Chicken

Chris Caldwell has over 20 years' experience in marketing, business development, retail and franchising.

Chris is currently flapping his wings as the CEO of Lenard's Chicken and taking that business through an all-encompassing reinvigoration program to bring the brand back to life, making it contemporary again for today's customers.

Chris is also the founder of Love Pollo, a small, growing premium rotisserie roast chicken brand that has stores in Camberwell, Richmond and Byron Bay.  So yes he really does love chicken.......but he prefers to call it Pollo!

Prior to Lenard's Chicken and Love Pollo, Chris was the General Manager of Australian Operations for one of Australia's true franchising behemoths, Bakers Delight.

Jason Smith, Founder & Group Director, Back in Motion Health Group

Jason is a dynamic business leader and award-winning physiotherapist in high demand.

Jason founded the Back In Motion Health Group Australia's largest and fastest growing provider of physiotherapy and related services. As the Group Director, Jason leads a team of more than 580 staff in over 100 locations.

As an active member and leader in business communities such as the Australian Physiotherapy Association, various CEO groups and special interest business forums, Jason is renowned for his positive contribution and advocacy in supporting community health and small business in Australia. 

Jason's unrelenting commitment to those less fortunate is demonstrated through his work with numerous welfare organisations and community groups. Most notably, Jason is the Executive Chairperson of the SOS Health Foundation which serves to improve the health of disadvantaged Australians.

Jason has also authored an international best seller Get Yourself Back In Motion a physiotherapist's secrets to pain relief and optimal health.

Back In Motion have been awarded a BRW Fast Franchise for five consecutive years and in 2013, Jason was awarded Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, for Services in the Southern region.

Scott Enno, Director, Flooring Xtra

Scott Enno started selling carpet at the age of 18 and is now the Director of Australia's fastest growing flooring and blind retail brand, Flooring Xtra.

With over 70 franchises sold in five years, positivity and effort are key to ensuring that staff and franchisees retain good culture. Flooring Xtra is looking to expand to 100 locations within the next 2 years.
