Jane Lombard offers many years of experience from all aspects of the franchise industry. Over the last 15 years, Jane has owned and operated 3 highly successful franchise operations.
As NSW/ACT franchisee of The Franchise Shop Jane works with a large range of emerging franchisors across a broad range of franchise models and systems. Working with her clients to develop their businesses into successful franchise models and assisting them in recruiting franchisees.
Danny Singh, AMC Cleaning
Danny has been instrumental in the turnaround of AMC Commercial Cleaning in NSW, he has driven, franchisee engagement and growth, the business has seen growth in franchisee sales, overall revenue and operating profit.
AMC Commercial Cleaning have over 85 franchisees within NSW and 600 nationally. In NSW the expected growth is to 100 by the end of FY15. Danny has achieved this by implementing systems and procedures to better deal with the day to day operations of this business. His management style is lead by example and is one that is inclusive, loves to coach to get the best out his team, ("without a good people in your team you do not have a good business", this is the same for franchisees.)
Danny's belief is the engagement and empowerment of his staff and franchisees also professional development for his team and ongoing training for his franchisees, this has led to a sound business with great foundations to grow and become a leader in its field.
Danny is passionate about franchising as a business model. Franchising has allowed scalability for his business to grow and the flexibility with many partners within the organisation with one common goal which is it to grow.
Andrew Benefield, Cookie Corporation
Andrew has over 21 years of success in franchising, having worked on developing franchise models in industry leaders such as KFC, Pizza Hut and Caltex. He is now the "King of Cookies" leading the amalgamation of the Mrs. Fields and Cookie Man brands in the Australian Market.
Apart from being a franchisor he has also spent time as a business mentor and coach, winning the coveted "best client results" as a franchisee with Action Coach in 2007. He knows how to get results across a wide range of businesses.
As an active motorsport competitor he knows how easy it is to get carried away by the "red mist" of the moment often resulting in losing time or worse an expensive crash. "To be successful in any sport you need to have a plan, measure your progress and make adjustments as required, and most importantly drive your own race". To him business is no different, you need to keep score as you progress.
Abraham Hatoum, Looksmart Alterations
is the Executive Chairman and Founder of LookSmart Alterations, a franchise system with over 120 stores across Australia and New Zealand. Abraham takes great pride in the fact that he has been involved with the FCA for the past 15 years. He has been given various opportunities, including key-note speaker at FCA events and to be a part of the NSW FCA Chapter Committee.
LookSmart is as much a personal achievement as it is a professional one for Abraham. LookSmart has recently reached an annual turnover of nearly $40 million. It has won a number of awards, including Best Medium-Large Business at the Ethnic Business Awards and State Multi-Unit Franchise of the Year. LookSmart has also been awarded FCA's Franchise Executive of the Year.
Abraham draws on specific examples from his experience as a franchisor and looks for similar qualities in potential franchisees. This innate understanding of human spirit helps him to understand when people are ready to take the leap into a LookSmart franchise. Abraham's keen business sense and his operational experience in running several outlets assists him in seeing the potential of future franchisees.
He plans to use his knowledge and expertise to grow LookSmart Alterations, with global expansion and the development of 1000 branches by 2030. Abraham is a dreamer.
Melissa Wharton, Mad Mex
Mel currently leads the national franchise sales, training and IR function for Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill. Originally from Canada, Mel brings 20 years of experience within the QSR, hospitality & FMCG industries. Working for strong food franchise brands such as Grill'd Healthy Burgers, Tim Hortons (Canada's largest quick service restaurant chain) and Swiss Chocolatier, Lindt & Sprüngli.
Mel's recruitment expertise coupled with her entrepreneurial tenacity and strategic approach has anchored her as a trusted advisor within the Australian market. Mel has been described as having a "strong social competency, guided by a motivated personality and ability to connect with a large variety of people".
Mel relocated to Sydney 2 years ago from Melbourne to join the emergent Mexican fast casual brand and drive organizational change to prepare Mad Mex's for their next stage of growth.
Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill launched in Sydney in 2007 and has expanded to over 50 locations across Australia and New Zealand. In 2013, Mad Mex was ranked sixth on BRW's Fast Franchise list and was one of only three retail trade establishments to be ranked within the top 20 of BRW's Fast 100 list.
