QLD Code Forum 18/11/14

New Franchise Code Compliance – everything you need to know and do

Free of charge FCA member event

The Federal Government has just released the final version of the new Franchising Code of Conduct, which will replace the old Franchising Code with effect from 1 January 2015.  Legislation to amend the Competition and Consumer Act to give effect to new penalties for certain breaches – court awarded fines of up to $51,000 and ACCC powers to issue infringement notices of $8,500 per breach - will take effect 1 January 2015.

This is the most significant change to franchising regulation since the enactment of the Code in 1998, and represents the final part of the comprehensive review of franchising regulation that commenced in early 2013.  Gain expert legal advice from those who represented your interests during the 20 month review process.  Learn how the new Code will apply, exemptions from updating, new updating timeframes, what good faith is likely to mean, how end of term arrangements will affect restraint of trade clauses, and the changes you need to make to your agreements, disclosure documents and processes.

Join the FCA legal team and State Chapter Committee for the Franchise Code Forum.
This is a free event for members only and will be held in the capital city of each state.
