Using Information to make better Business Decisions

In this informative session Peter Buckingham will take you through the process of sourcing, analysing and impleting information to help your business grow.

Don’t use the SWAG approach:

Peter Buckingham is the Managing Director of Spectrum Analysis Australia Pty Ltd, the leading company in assisting clients in the area of mapping, site selection, territory planning and analysis. Following 20 years in the oil industry, Peter has bought to many businesses a far more robust processes to make better business decisions, especially regarding retail and property.

Thoughts for better use of information in business processes

Sales prediction modelling – if you need to have some indication what a site will sell, learn from the past history in your network

Territory Planning – Aim to make each territory of similar potential by making the territories larger or smaller depending on how suitable the people or businesses are to what you are selling.

Strategic Network Planning – How should a network of stores look in 5 – 10 years – plan it – be proactive, not reactive. Think in where we are now, what is the IDEAL, then how do we head there?

Sales Cannibilization -  What will be the effects of a new store on existing stores in our network?  – should not be really an issue until around 80+ stores.

Can use retail gravity model to estimate how a new store will affect those around it.
