QLD CEO Dinner

Mature Systems and Innovations

The topic for the quarterly CEO dinner is ‘Mature Systems and Innovations’ - something that the operators of mature systems will need to keep on top as both the marketplace evolves, competition intensifies and evolving consumers become more astute in making purchasing decisions and their needs change.   For mature systems the challenge can often be the inability to connect new products or services with organisational resources, processes, and strategy; thwarting innovation in these organisations. Within these systems the innovators can often lack the power to make these connections.

With mature systems facing ongoing growth and earnings pressures from both franchisees and shareholders, senior executives need  to ‘think differently’ about their business, to look at markets expansively, and to conceptualise new sources of customer value that will catalyse new business and revenue streams. In the language of the new competitive playing field, they are needing  to drive ‘strategic innovation’.

Speaker - Michael Paul, CEO, Pack and Send and Chairman of the FCA.

Michael Paul is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Franchise Council of Australia.

He has been a member of the Franchise Council of Australia for almost 20 years and has been a national director of the FCA since 2009.
Michael is the CEO and founder of PACK & SEND, an Australian owned franchise system based on a unique retail business model that provides customers with convenient one-stop-shop solutions for sending anything, anywhere.
Established in 1993, PACK & SEND, under Michael's guidance and leadership has developed into a national retail network of over 125 franchise service centres throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The company was recognised in 2007 as the 'Australian Franchisor of the Year' and in 2008 PACK & SEND earned second place in the prestigious International Franchisor of the Year Award - a major achievement given the company was up against some of the major global economies and franchising cultures in the world.
Michael has extensive franchising experience (20 years) and speaks regularly at conventions, seminars, forums, and small business functions both in Australia and internationally about issues he is passionate about, such as world class franchising practices and building a culture of 'no limits' customer service.
