The new Work Health and Safety laws - how to protect your brand and avoid prison time

From 1 January 2013, the Work Health and Safety Act has created new issues for businesses to consider in managing safety risks.

Thea Birss and Will Snow will be exploring the new requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act and leading a practical discussion on the implications for franchisors and franchisees. Personal liability will be a key topic, as well as working from home arrangements.

As these laws have broad implications for business, this session is recommended for all business owners and managers.

Thea Birss is a Senior Associate in Fox Tucker Lawyers’ Employment Team.  She has specialised in workplace law, including health and safety, for over a decade.  She has assisted clients in relation to risk management, the investigation of workplace accidents and SafeWork SA prosecutions.

Will Snow is an Associate at Minter Ellison who advises organisations on their employment and safety risks, including investigations and dealing with regulatory agencies in SA and the NT. Previous to his current role, Will worked in-house in legal and industrial relations roles including several years at Qantas Airways.
