We have combined 2 nationally recognised qualifications (BSB50515 Diploma of Franchising and BSB50215 Diploma of Business) into a single 10 unit program

By participating in this program participants will:
  1. Gain a thorough working knowledge of all aspects of franchising from establishing and managing a franchising operation, identifying new sites and regions, managing relationships with franchisees and closure or transfer of a franchise.
  2. Understand the legal framework and obligations of both franchisees and Franchisor
  3. Develop skills and strategies to support, coach and mentor franchisees and team members
  4. Know how to develop and implement operational and marketing plans to drive and grow a successful franchising business
  5. Active continuous improvement of the franchising business
  6. Develop systems to capture, manage and share knowledge and information throughout the franchising system
  7. Learn how to identify suitable franchisees and prepare them for success within your franchise system

The combined Diploma of Franchising and Diploma of Business comprises 10 subjects in total.

Participants may select four of the following franchising subjects:
  • Manage the establishment of new sites and/or regions
  • Establish a franchising operation
  • Manage a franchise operation
  • Manage closure or transfer of franchises
  • Manage relationships with franchisees

Plus complete the following 6 subjects:

  • Plan and Manage Conferences
  • Manage Franchise Meetings
  • Manage Recruitment Selection and Induction of New Franchisees
  • Implement and monitor marketing activities
  • Manage personal work priorities and professional development
  • Implement continuous improvement
It is also possible to undertake either the Diploma of Franchising or the Diploma of Business as a single qualification comprising a total of 8 subjects.

Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL) and if necessary, RPL plus Gap Training is available for franchise executives with existing skills and on the job experience within the franchising sector.

Customised training is available for groups of four or more from the same franchising brand.

Jan is a well-known franchising all-rounder with over 30 years of practical experience in sales, marketing, training and small business management, underpinned by a strong theoretical framework gained through completing a Master of Management, Graduate Diploma in Training and
Development, Diploma of Franchising and Diploma of Marketing. Jan is currently finalising a PhD research study on the impact of learning and development on business outcomes in franchising.

Jan is a highly skilled trainer, workshop facilitator and webinar presenter with the ability to use her practical experience to bring training to life, making it both relevant and useful in practical terms. Her lively presentation style keeps learners engaged whilst employing specialised techniques to achieve the transfer of learning to on the job behaviours, which subsequently lead to the achievement of improved business outcomes.

Jan started her franchising journey with the Snap Franchising where she developed the 'Snap Academy' from inception through to implementation and Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status.  She then established a comprehensive learning and development program for Worldwide more than just print, incorporating an interactive e-Learning self-paced training centre for franchisees and their employees before becoming their head of marketing.

Since founding Get Smart Services 8 years ago, Jan has helped numerous franchise executives to progress their careers through professional development.

She has also worked with several franchising groups to integrate learning and development initiatives with business strategy to help improve business outcomes.

Our self-paced Diploma program has been designed for those with busy work schedules within the Franchising Industry. Our training focuses on real-world skills and is delivered via the combination of:
  • Interactive Webinars Each subject has an introductory webinar to provide an overview of the topic and explain what needs to be done in the assessment tasks
    NB. Classroom-based workshops are available for groups working together from the same brand
  • E-learning materials or books When your webinar session is complete, you will log-in to the eLearning system to access further learning materials on this topic. (Hard copy materials are available as an alternative to eLearning if preferred or both can be provided at an additional cost)
  • One on One coaching sessions held by phone or Skype to talk through the application of the content within your business and address any concerns or issues. The first session will take place at the commencement of your study with the remaining sessions being scheduled with your trainer/assessor to suit individual requirements.
  • Practical Assessments work is completed each month of the program with practical projects that relate to real life franchising situations and issues. Practical assessments can be completed using your own brand and materials or using a supplied case study and materials.

You can complete the program within a timeframe that suits you, however, steady progress is encouraged and expected throughout the duration of the program.
