The National Franchise Convention 2008 will for the first time include a franchisee focus aking its theme as The power of one. the franchising industry's major event of the year has struck a blow for a united arena, for the first time offering a senes of franchisee forum sessions over the two-day convention.

With franchisors and consultants starting the event a day early with a symposium, the convention proper starts on Friday October 17 and ends on Saturday October 18 with a gala dinner, at which the MYOB Excellence in Franchising Awards will be announced.

At the Darling Harbour Sydney Convention Centre franchisees will get the chance to hear from renowned speakers. gain insights into the national economic and business outlook, discover new opportunities in franchising. enjoy great networking and social events and visit an exhibition making this event an essential in the diary of any go-ahead franchisee.

So what's on for franchisees? Friday 17th October The official welcome will be given by John O'Brien, CEO of the PoolWerx Corporation and the chairman of the FCA. Dr Craig Emerson, Federal Minister for Small Business, will give the opening keynote address on the power of one' focus identitying the challenges that lie ahead for franchising and small business and the focus needed to overcome them. Then in his role as executive director of the FCA, Steve Wright will talk about the power of one' event.

Factors for franchisee success, with members of the FCA Franchisee Forum Leader: Tony Melhem, Franchising magazine columnist and Gloria Jeans franchisee, heads up the FCA Franchisee Forum and is now with Cuco Cubano, Commentators: Mace Liversidge has experience in retail, manufacturing and wholesaling and is a multi-unit franchisee with Donut King.

Marcus Delaney was WA Franchisee of the Year in 2006 and has multiple Chooks Fresh and Tasty franchises.

Nader Seifen has a business and accounting backgroLind and is a franchisee with La Porchetta.

Garry Richards has more than 30 years in franchising and is a multiple site franchisee with Worldwide Online Print.
