Success recognised at VIC/TAS Excellence in Franchising Awards

Written on the 19 June 2018 by FCA Media Release

The Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) recognised franchising's best in Victoria and Tasmania at the FCA 2018 Vic/Tas Excellence in Franchising Awards presentations in Melbourne on Friday night.

The Awards showcased diversity and opportunity across franchising, and recognised franchising success in a broad range of sectors, including mobile services, restaurants and coffee shops, courier and logistics services, and banking.

Winners at the event included La My Linh Tran of Roll'd Australia, Dan Blacklow from Hire a Hubby, Jessica Saxby of Banjo's Bakery Café, Evan Davis from RAMS Home Loans and Glen Cammiade of EFM Health Clubs.

Evan Davis of RAMS Home Loans says being named FCA Single Unit Franchisee of the Year (two or more staff) was a "very humbling recognition of years of hard slog".

"The RAMS franchise has been a terrific opportunity as the network supports people from all walks of life and, in supporting me, has allowed me to support others around me in my business."

"Through the RAMS brand I've been able to open doors and help my staff create businesses within my business and I've been able to enjoy their success as well as my own." says Evan Davis. "Client needs come first. If we look after our clients, everything else becomes comparatively easy."

Victorian Field Manager of the Year La My Linh (Linda) Tran from Roll'd Australia says she has had a great journey with Roll'd and says the key to success is "throwing yourself into the job and always thinking about what you can do better".

"I started at the bottom and gradually worked my way up, so I know how people feel at each level from when I was in the role and I have used that to encourage others along the way" says Linda.

Franchise Woman of the Year, Jessica Saxby of Banjo's Bakery Cafe, also attributes her success to guiding people to be their very best. Five years in the role as CEO at Banjo's after taking over from her father who was the founder, Jessica has a vision to now expand the franchise to eighty stores.

"I thrive on helping people to grow in their role and push them to get where they want to go. We have people who've gone from working in a store or being a baker to running their own franchise or onto senior operational management roles" says Jessica.

"Baking has always been male dominated and I actively encourage women to get involved in the process and develop in the industry. I think women need to encourage and support each other because there are not as many of us and we have a role to play. I'm proud if this award makes me a role model for other women".

Following their success, all state winners have qualified as finalists for the MYOB FCA National Excellence in Franchising Awards. The Gala Awards Dinner will be the closing event of the 2018 National Franchise Convention in Melbourne on Tuesday 16 October.
