At 35 Tony Meiham already had his hands full running a number of Gloria Jeans, Harry's Cafe de Wheels and Coco Cubano franchises across Sydney.

The Ryde local will be even busier since he was elected Deputy Chair of the Franchise Council of Australia.

Mr Melham said it was a big responsibility and a lot of hard work with board meetings, conventions and conferences regularly taking place all over Australia and the world.

He is the youngest ever board member.

The Franchise Council educate and represent franchisees and make sure their interests are being met with the government.

Mr Meiham said his new role was an opportunity for him to give back to a group that had provided him with a lot of support.
