Franchises 'will lose value under new rules'

PROPOSED new franchising rules for South Australia have been vehemently opposed by 95 per cent of franchise executives.

The survey of more than 120 Franchise Council of Australia members shows 95 per cent believe the sector should be governed by national regulations, rather than state rules.

It found 84 per cent of respondents felt the proposed rules would detract from the value of franchise systems in SA. Almost 80 per cent indicated the legislation would influence their attitudes towards investment in the state.
