The fried chicken sector seems to have drawn some inspiration from the success of the big miners in taking on the federal government’s now watered-down mining tax.

The owner of Red Rooster and CHOOKS Fresh & Tasty, Quick Service Restaurant Holdings, threatened to "move its corporate headquarters and 3800 WA jobs east" yesterday if the West Australian Parliament passed a private member’s bill to change the laws on franchise agreements.

"WA represents a $10 billion franchise sector. If this bill lands in WA, expect to see millions of dollars of future investment in small business heading off in other directions," warned the Franchise Council of Australia’s Steve Wright.

Then where will WA’s citizenry get their fried chicken drumsticks?
