Advocate's role has its limits

The small business community has welcomed the appointment of the inaugural federal small business commissioner to advocate for its needs inside government. But some lament that the role will not have dispute resolution powers.

Mark Brennan - who also became the first state-based small business commissioner when he was appointed by the Victorian government in 2003, a position he held for seven years - will take up the role on January 2, 2013.
