QLD Roundtable 22/09/2016 - POSTPONED

Importance of Independent Advice Certificates

Obtaining independent accounting, business and legal advice is not compulsory for franchisees under the Franchising Code, but should franchisors insist that franchisees get independent advice before entering into a franchise agreement?

In this session we will explore;

  • The legal and practical benefits of independent advice certificates,
  • How insisting that franchisees get independent advice can be an effective shield against future claims by franchisees.

This session will be facilitated by Steve Latham, Minter Ellison.  Steve Latham is an experienced and well-regarded corporate and commercial practitioner focused on franchising, corporate advisory, and mergers and acquisitions.
