QLD CEO Dinner 11/04/2013

The Rocky Road to Critical Mass

Join Kenton Campbell, CEO Zarraffa's Coffee for a evening with fine food and topically discussions. This dinner is open to, and relevant for CEO’s & MD’s/GM’s of franchise systems: Retail 5 to 80 stores and service 5 to 200 stores.

An American expatriate turned Aussie to the core Kenton is the Founder and CEO of the thriving, iconic Gold Coast-based specialty coffee retailer, wholesaler, roaster and franchisor, Zarraffa’s Coffee.
From a transient childhood that lead to a brief stint in the Navy, Kenton was first struck by the entrepreneurial bug when working as a waiter. Watching so much money pass through his hands provided him with the inspiration to start a cleaning business. From this business, Kenton quickly progressed to selling advertising, whereby sheer chance he was offered his first Mocha coffee, the drink that initiated his love for the golden drop. One month later Kenton had his first coffee cart in Seattle and it was here a few years later he met two Australian men. It was this encounter that changed his life. Nine months later he left for a new life in Australia. Life in Australia didn’t go exactly to plan, with Kenton being involved in a major car accident on his first day in Australia, that incidentally lead him to meet his wife, Rachel Campbell. Having convinced Rachel to sign for a $9,000 personal loan and while sleeping on the floor next to the couch in her parent’s place, Zarraffa’s Coffee was born, in September 1996 as a roasting house on a obscure back street in Southport on the Gold Coast.
