Franchise Hall of Fame Panel Luncheon

Join your franchising peers and Franchise Hall of Fame members for a two course meal with selected wines plus the Priorites in Tough Times panel.

Hall of Famers Diana Williams, Bill Mc Gowan, Noel Carroll and Tom Potter have seen it all during their illustrious careers.  FCA Chairman and Hall of Famer Stephen Giles will put these experienced franchisors in the hotseat to provide insights into priorities for franchise systems during tough times:-

  • keeping a positive outlook
  • how to best support franchisees
  • communications priorities
  • dealing with underperformers
  • driving sales and marketing
  • the importance of innovation
  • where can costs be cut?

It's not often that we have the privilege of having such high calibre franchising experience and knowledge available in a panel setting, which makes this lunch an event not to be missed.

Diana Williams

Founder of Fernwood Women's Health Clubs, Diana opened her first Fernwood club in 1989.  Using franchising as her preferred method of expansion, the group has now grown to 77 clubs nationally with over 80,000 members, more than 2,200 employees and master franchises in South Africa and New Zealand.   Regularly winning awards and listed in business journals as one of the fastest growing and leading fitness franchise systems, Diana was inducted into the Franchise Hall of Fame in 2007.

Bill McGowan

Founder of Fastway Couriers, and the first person in the world to franchise parcel delivery, Bill McGowan has taken the Fastway Couriers system to the world, with Fastway currently franchised in nine countries, with over 1,600 franchisees.  A regular winner of industry and franchising awards, along with his terms as FCA NSW State President and FCA National Chairman, Bill also chaired the World Franchise Council and the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation, turning both into vibrant international organisations that are well placed to assist Australian franchise systems expand internationally.  Bill was part of the inaugural Franchise Hall of Fame members, inducted in 2003.

Noel Carroll

Our 2011 Franchise Hall of Fame inductee, Noel Carroll co-founded the Michel's Patisserie Franchise chain with his good mate Noel Roberts in 1988. In the next 20 years, they built it into the largest specialist patisserie chain in the world with 400 franchisees throughout Australia, New Zealand and China.  Michel's Patisserie has been awarded the FCA Overall Franchise System of the year an unprecedented three times (1999, 2000, 2003) and is highly recognised for its branding, marketing and training.

Tom Potter

Tom Potter established the Eagle Boys Pizza system in Queensland, and built it to a major chain of 170 stores across Australia and NZ before selling his NZ business to Pizza Hut.

Tom is one of the younger members of the Franchise Hall of Fame. He opened his own pizza store in Albury at age 21 and soon developed a franchise concept, moved head office to Coffs Harbour and finally Brisbane.

Tom is a Young Australian of the Year, Harvard graduate, talented and recognised public speaker, board member of AFL Qld, Brisbane Port Authority, Brumby's Bakeries and Wallace Bishop Jewellers. He is a past FCA Queensland Chapter committee member and long time supporter of all things franchising.

Stephen Giles

A founding member of the Franchise Council of Australia, and inducted into the Franchise Hall of Fame in 2009, Stephen is in his third period as Chairman.  he has served on the national board of the Franchise Council since 1997, handling industry regulation and Government relations matters on behal fof the FCA. He is a partner with international legal firm Norton Rose, specialising in franchising, trade practices and commercial law.
