Award Definition

This award is for excellence in franchising practice in Australia by a brand first established in another country.

Eligibility

This award is for excellence in franchising practice by an established system that meets the following conditions:

1. The franchisor began operations in Australia due to expansion from another country.
2. The franchisor has been franchising outside Australia for at least five years.
3. The franchisor has been franchising in Australia for at least two years.
4. Entries must pertain to a single brand. Multi-brand franchisors are eligible to enter, but must declare which brand is being entered. All material, information and achievements must pertain solely to that brand.

All material, information and achievements must pertain solely to that brand and its operations within Australia, except where stated.

Award Process

  1. Review the assessment criteria below to confirm that you are willing to respond to detailed questions in these areas.
  2. Complete the online entry form and pay the application fee. Your application fee goes toward covering the administration, marketing and assessment costs associated with the Awards.
  3. You will be sent a unique link to complete your online submission containing a number of specific questions based on the areas of assessment below. No late submissions will be accepted.
  4. All submissions will be assessed by specialist judges using predefined criteria to create a short-list of finalists. You will be kept informed of the status of your submission.
  5. Finalists will be interviewed by an independent panel of judges. This may be over the phone or in person. If in person, finalist will be required to attend at own cost. Finalists may be required to submit additional financial documentation to support their submission and a phone survey may be conducted on a sample of franchisees.
  6. The winner of International Franchise System of the Year, and merit award winners, will be announced at the 2016 FCA Gala Awards Dinner which forms part of the FCA National Franchise Convention.

Planning
Weight: 35%
Word Limit: 1,200

This area measures the planning processes your company uses to identify and address key strategic issues likely to impact on the performance of your franchise network within Australia.
Franchisor leadership, support and satisfaction
Weight: 30%
Word Limit: 1,200
The capability of the franchisor team to lead the franchise network and the resulting levels of satisfaction.
Financial franchisor performance
Weight: 15%
Word Limit: 600
This area measures the ability of the franchisor business to meet its current and future financial commitments. You may be asked to provide supporting documentation.
Financial performance of franchisees
Weight: 10%
Word Limit: 400
This area measures how the franchisor monitors and responds to the financial performance of franchisees. You may be asked to provide supporting documentation.

Citizenship
Weight: 10%
Word Limit: 400

The company's involvement with and contribution to industry associations and the community.
