This award is for excellence in delivery of franchisee support.

Award Process

  1. Review the assessment criteria below to confirm that you are willing to respond to detailed questions in these areas.
  2. Complete the online entry form and pay the application fee. Entries close 15 March 2013. Your application fee goes toward covering the administration, marketing and assessment costs associated with the Awards.
  3. You will be sent a submission kit containing a number of specific questions to guide your submission and make it as efficient as possible for you. Submissions must be received by close of business 29 March 2013. No late submissions will be accepted.
  4. All submissions will be assessed using predefined criteria. Judges may wish to talk with you or a sample of franchisees. You may also be asked to provide additional information to support your submission.
  5. State award winners of Field Manager of the Year will be announced at the FCA Regional Award Dinners,, with the overall National winner announced at the Gala Awards Dinner, which form part of the FCA National Franchise Convention.

Areas to be assessed

Current role and responsibilities The nature of your role and responsibilities. This includes the number of franchisees or units you are responsible for.

Business acumen

Your understanding of how to monitor and manage the drivers of profitability in the franchise system. This includes your confidence in interpreting and discussing financial reports with franchisees as well being able to help franchisees set budgets and business plans if a franchisee's business is at risk.
Making a difference The impact you have had on the success of your franchise system. This includes examples of the difference you have made to the performance of various types of franchisees and initiatives you have driven within the franchise system.
Commitment and empathy How you have dedicated yourself to the success of franchisees in your care. This includes the depth of your passion to the franchising way of doing business and the extent to which you understand the goals and aspirations of your franchisees.
Influencing and negotiation How you influence others and negotiate difficult situations. This includes how you deal with serious compliance issues without damaging the franchise relationship as well as how you stay in touch with franchisees between visits.
Personal integrity How you have maintained credibility and trust with franchisees. This includes a difficult stand you made on an issue you felt strongly about and the regard in which you are held by franchisees and colleagues.
Training and facilitation Your effectiveness in running meetings and enhancing franchisee knowledge and skills. This includes how you structure and run regional franchisee meetings as well as training programs you have delivered to franchisees or their staff.
Business development Your ability to help franchisees drive sales and local market share. This includes initiatives you have taken to help franchisees boost sales or local market share and how you have helped franchisees remain competitive in a tough local market.
Coaching How you keep franchisees focused and motivated on achieving their goals. This includes your process for helping franchisees set their goals and how you have helped franchisees that have been down or discouraged.
Organisation and follow through How reliable you are and your ability to stay organised and on top of all the things you have to do. This includes how you prepare for your visits and how you follow up with franchisees on agreed actions.
Professional and personal development How you have undertaken personal and professional development programs or processes. This includes methods you use to help you maintain a positive state of mind and how you keep up to date in the franchising sector and your industry.
